Last month, River City Recycling and its loyal customers helped to recycle over 4300 lbs of paper. That's 4300 lbs of paper that will not go to the landfill. That's 4300 lbs of paper that gets recycled into useful products. That's 5 fully grown pine trees saved, thanks to all of you! Keep up the good work!

I'm new here. Is this mostly about selling drugs? Been there, done that! But am trying to find out about recycling at present. I have about a ton of plastic that I wish to keep out of the land fill. I thought I was on the website of Rivercity recycling. That's where I started. How did I get away from there?
I hesitate to mark "Email me" about all that stuff if selling drugs is your main thing.
Let me know please by email if you have info about unloading plastic, not about drugs.

Did you know. . .
The average paper use for South America is 80 pounds per person.
The average paper use for Europe is 291 pounds per person.
The average paper use for everyone on the planet is 119 pounds per person.
But here's the kicker. . .
The average paper use in the United States is 653 pounds per person. . .and half of that ends up in the landfill. . .

Here's another idea for gift giving:
Instead of purchasing yet another trinket, tie, or scented candle package that will probably get re-gifted, purchase your loved one two months of curbside recycling from River City Recycling.
It's something that you know will get used and you don't even have to leave home to buy it! Now that's giving the gift of green!

What does it look like for a town to really go green, not just say it's going green, and devise ways for big developers and favorite contractors to get zoning exemptions and "points" for high density projects? It's worth following some of America's green leaders:

Thank you, everyone who called the city, for getting my Chattanooga Green account reinstated on greenerchattanooga.com. CG has said it will no longer delete the accounts of citizens who request that the 17 Greener Chattanooga groups be made more inclusive, transparent and accessible to citizens. A group representing our government can't legally censor citizens, especially ones asking that more citizens be allowed to participate through Facebook, email blasts and Twitter, since so many of Chattan…

This is part II of a two-part run-down of Collier’s green lunch on Sept. 8th at green|spaces. In part I of this article, we explained that most homebuyers want the best price per square foot on the market. This makes perfect sense until we look at it from a sustainability standpoint. So we suggested th…

Most of us have a home that is heated by either a gas furnace or a heat pump. Most of us didn't make the choice between the two. This is the most expensive budget item in most homeowners lives and they sometimes don't even know the source.
I am a professional heat and air technician and know the difference between the two. I decided on heat pumps many years ago and in the past 8 years, I have been promoting Hybrid heat pumps. To me it is the perfect compromise. You can see the description on my…

A green tip for gift giving. Instead of using wrapping paper, be a little creative. The reusable shopping bags make an excellent gift bag and also become an extra gift. They cost about the same as a gift bag and will be very well recieved. Wrap a baby shower gift in a baby blanket or cloth diaper. Who else has some creative wrapping ideas?
