Make Recycling Your New Year’s Resolution

In 2009, 1 in 4 Americans (27%) said that they planned to make recycling their New Year’s resolution, and a majority (72%) planned to recycle following holiday parties, gatherings, and meals throughout the year. WERE TO YOU OF THEM? If not, then now is your time to step-up.

According to the EPA, the average American produces approximately 1,600 pounds of trash per year. The New Year is an opportunity to reflect on the past and make a commitment to change for the future. Top resolutions are to lose weight and manage debt, and recycling will do both by reducing the weight of trash going into landfills and by reducing the need to extract virgin materials.

Turn reuse and recycling into a household habit in 2010 and help protect the environment throughout the year.

Think before you buy and just use less “stuff.”
