When I started my latest project last Summer, I had the simple and laughable idea that I would pile up all of the cardboard and see just how much I had been throwing in the dumpsters over the course of the job. I thought I might get something in the range of a pickup load, but what the heck, it was worth a try just to see how big the pile got.
Problem: The pile got so big, so fast that the guys couldn;t work around it, so I hauled a truckload to the recycler. Repeat.Repeat. Repeat.I was stunned. I never would have guessed that one moderately sized house would produce 4 truck loads of just cardboard. At 300-400 pounds per load, that's easily in excess of a half ton of cardboard. Just imagine how much landfill space we could save if we all did this one simple thing on every job.
