One of the first things you should do to help your business become more environmentally friendly is take control of your energy usage. One of the main items on this list would be reviewing your current lighting system. This is especially true as your space gets larger in size.
Replace old, inefficient fixtures with newer, brighter, smaller-wattage fixtures (such as replacing mercury-halide floods with T8 florescent fixtures).
Install day lighting systems in offices or warehouses (skylights, windows, short cubicles).
Install motion sensing switches in places like bathrooms where lights are often left on needlessly.
Install timers that automatically douse lights after hours.
Ensure that all current timers and daylight sensors are functioning properly and that fixtures such as parking lot lights are not left on all day.
If you have any questions on this topic or any other lighting topic, please do not hesitate to email us or post a question here.
